Priyanka Nair is an Indian actress who predominantly works in theMalayalam film industry.[1] She made her debut in theTamil filmVeyyil in 2006.[2] She won the 2008Kerala State Film Award for best actress for her role inVilapangalkappuram.[3]
Priyanka completed herHigher Secondary School Certificate studies and studiedPhysics at theMar Ivanios College,Thiruvananthapuram.[4] During that time, she was also acting part-time in several Malayalam television series, includingUmakkuyil,Megham andAkashadoothu.[5] She considered acting in serials as "just time pass" and went on to add that she never intended to act in films, but rather wanted to be a lecturer.[4]
Priyanka marriedTamil film director and actor Lawrence Ram on 23 May 2012 atAttukal Temple inThiruvananthapuram.[6] They have a son Mukund, born on 18 May 2013.[7] The couple filed for divorce in 2015.[8]
She made herfeature film debut in theVasanthabalan-directed Tamil drama filmVeyyil (2006) that was produced by directorShankar,[9] in which she starred along withPasupathy. Her debut Malayalam film wasKichamani MBA (2007) that featured her in a supporting role. The following year she starred inT. V. Chandran'sVilapangalkkappuram along with Suhasini and Biju Menon; her performance earned her theKerala State Film Award for Best Actress.[10]Rediff named her the top Malayalam actress of 2009, citing that she "came up with a scintillating performance".[11] She rose to popularity after appearing oppositeMohanlal inIvidam Swargamanu. Priyanka loves riding her Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle.[12]
