British prince (born 2018)
Prince Louis of Wales (/ˈ l uː i LOO -ee[ 1] British royal family . He is the third and youngest child ofWilliam, Prince of Wales , andCatherine, Princess of Wales , and a grandson ofKing Charles III andDiana, Princess of Wales . He is fourth in the line ofsuccession to the British throne .
Louis was born at 11:01 am on 23 April 2018 atSt Mary's Hospital, London , during the reign of his paternal great-grandmother,Queen Elizabeth II , as the third child and second son ofPrince William andCatherine , then known as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.[ 2] [ 3] [ 4] gun salutes and bell ringing.[ 5] [ 6] Charles, Prince of Wales (later King Charles III) and his 3rd-great-uncleLouis, Earl Mountbatten of Burma .[ 7] christened on 9 July by thearchbishop of Canterbury ,Justin Welby , in theChapel Royal atSt James's Palace .[ 8]
Louis and his family lived atKensington Palace andAnmer Hall during his early childhood.[ 9] [ 10] Trooping the Colour debut in 2019.[ 11]

Louis accompanied his siblings and parents toElizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.[ 15] Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022 and Louis's grandfather became king. Accordingly, Louis became fourth in line to the throne.[ 16] [ 17] his grandfather's coronation on 6 May 2023.[ 18]
Louis is aBritish prince with the officialstyle and title "His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Wales".[ 19] Prince of Wales on 9 September 2022, Louis was styled "His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge".[ 1]
Louis is fourth in theline of succession to the British throne , behind his father and two elder siblings, George and Charlotte.[ 2] Perth Agreement , which replacedmale-preference primogeniture withabsolute primogeniture , he is the first British prince to be ranked behind an elder sister in the line of succession.[ 20]
