

Primate's Square (Slovak:Primaciálne námestie) is a square situated in the middle of theOld Town ofBratislava, the capital ofSlovakia. It is located betweenSlovak National Uprising Square andMain Square.
It is named after thePrimate's Palace which stands on the southern side of the square. A Tourist Information Visitors Centre and Municipality of Bratislava are also found on the square. A narrow passage leads off from the northwest corner and down the side of theJesuit Church toMain Square and theOld Town Hall.
In the past the square was named Jatočné Square, Obilné Square, Jánovo Square (meaning John's Square, after the baroque sculpture of SaintJohn of Nepomuk that used to stand next to the Old Town Hall). Later, it was called Batthyányho Square (meaning Batthyány's Square, afterCardinal Joseph Batthyány who had thePrimate's Palace built in 1787).
The center of the square features alinden tree planted in 1896 during the country's Millennium Celebrations. There are several buildings around the square:
