Apreachership was thetitle originally given to the Catholiccongregations of men with superior education endowed (by laity or clergy) to give about a hundredsermons to the public as a result of local dissatisfaction with poor-quality sermons of themedieval church. These sermons were considered more important than theEucharist.
Preacherships were found inStuttgart,Reutlingen,Eisenach, andJena. Many preachers in the towns as Stuttgart, Reutlingen, Eisenach, and Jena after 1517, becameProtestant leaders, as they were attracted byMartin Luther's ideas during theProtestant Reformation.[1]
