Potted shrimps is a traditionalEnglish dish made withbrown shrimp flavored withnutmeg and baked in butter. The butter acts as apreservative,[1] andcayenne pepper may also be used.[2] Regarded as a delicacy, it is traditionally eaten with bread.

Potted shrimps was a favourite dish ofIan Fleming, who passed on his predilection to his fictional creationJames Bond.[3] Fleming reputedly used to eat the dish atScott's Restaurant on Mount Street inLondon.[4]
