Posiva Oy is a Finnish company with headquarters in the municipality ofEurajoki,Finland. It was founded in 1995 byTeollisuuden Voima (60% of stock) andFortum (40% of stock),[1] two Finnish nuclear plant operators, for researching and creating a method of final disposal of spent nuclear fuel from their plants.[2][3][4]
For this purpose, Posiva is currently constructing theOnkalo spent nuclear fuel repository, the world's firstdeep geological repository, at theOlkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant site.
