Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, atHoward University inWashington, D.C. , by nine women who were known asThe Original Group of 1908 , and seven sophomores, who were accepted as honor initiates and are known asThe Sophomores of 1910 . Alpha Kappa Alpha serves the community through a membership of more than 200,000 women in over 950 chapters in the United States and several other countries. Membership is extended to female college undergraduate and graduate students. The sorority also bestows honorary membership as the highest honor.
Alpha Kappa Alpha states that since the organization's founding, "the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha has responded to the world’s increasing complexity. David Lawrence Schwimmer is an American actor and director of
television and
film . Born in New York, he moved and began his acting career performing in school plays at
Beverly Hills High School . In 1988, he graduated from
Northwestern University with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in theater and speech. After graduation, Schwimmer co-founded the
Lookingglass Theatre Company . He then appeared in a number of television roles, including
L.A. Law ,
The Wonder Years ,
NYPD Blue , and
Monty in the early-1990s. Schwimmer later gained worldwide recognition for playing
Ross Geller in the
situation comedy Friends . He starred in his first feature film
The Pallbearer (1996), which was followed by roles in
Kissing a Fool (1998),
Six Days Seven Nights (1998),
Apt Pupil , and
Picking Up the Pieces (2000). He was then cast in the miniseries
Band of Brothers (2001) as
Herbert Sobel . Following the series finale of
Friends in 2004, Schwimmer landed the role of the titular character in the 2005 drama
Duane Hopwood . Other film roles include the computer animated film
Madagascar (2005), the dark comedy
Big Nothing (2006), the thriller
Nothing But the Truth (2008), and

Chicago Board of Trade Building houses the
Chicago Board of Trade , the world's largest
futures and options exchange . It is located at 141 West Jackson Boulevard,
Chicago ,
Illinois , in the
Chicago Loop community area . First designated a
Chicago Landmark on May 4, 1977, the building was subsequently listed as a
National Historic Landmark on June 2, 1978. The building was then added to the
National Register of Historic Places on June 16, 1978. The tallest building in Chicago for over 35 years the structure is known for its
art-deco architecture, sculptures and large scale
stone carving , as well as large trading floors. A popular
sightseeing attraction and motion picture location, the building has won
awards for
preservation efforts and office management. The Chicago Board of Trade occupies 33 percent of available space, with financial and trading concerns occupying 54 percent of the 3-building complex. The landmark has been the site of a number of visits by dignitaries, including the Prince of Wales in October 1977. Trading operations have been used as scenes in movies such as
