Popo Aumavae (born January 15, 1999) is an American professionalfootballdefensive tackle for theCarolina Panthers of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theOregon Ducks.

Early life and high school

Coming out of high school, Aumavae was rated as a three star recruit, where he held offers from schools such as Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, Oregon, UCLA, Utah Washington and Washington State.[1] Ultimately, Aumavae decided to commit to playcollege football for theOregon Ducks.[2][3]

College career

Aumavae utilized a redshirt during his true freshman season in 2017.[4] During Aumavae's first two seasons in 2018 and 2019, he totaled 20 tackles with six being for a loss, and three and a half sacks.[5] In the 2020 season, Aumavae tallied 12 tackles.[6] During the 2021 season, Aumavae tallied 36 tackles with three being for a loss, en route to being named first team all Pac-12.[7] Aumavae missed the entirety of the 2022 season due to a season ending injury in his foot.[8][9] During the 2023 season, Aumavae recorded 18 tackles with three being for a loss, and three sacks.[10] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Aumavae declared for the2024 NFL draft.[11][12]

After not being selected in the2024 NFL draft, Aumavae decided to sign with theCarolina Panthers as anundrafted free agent.[14][15] He was also selected by theArlington Renegades in the fourth round of the2024 UFL draft on July 17.[16] Aumavae was released with an injury designation on July 25.[17]
