Poonam Bajwa is an Indian actress who appears inTamil,Malayalam, andTelugu films. She made her acting debut in2005 with the Telugu filmModati Cinema, followed by another Telugu filmBoss (2006). Her debut Kannada- and Tamil- language movies wereThangigagi (2006) andSeval (2008), respectively.
APunjabi by birth, she was born inBombay to Amarjit Singh Bajwa, a Naval Officer and Jayalakshmi Bajwa. She has a younger sister, Deepika Bajwa.[1] She was crowned Miss Pune in 2005,[2] after which she started modeling part-time while studying.[3] When she went to Hyderabad for a ramp show, the director ofModati Cinema spotted her and asked her if she was interested in films. She had finished her 12th then and had a five-month gap before college and hence agreed to star in his film, despite excelling in academics.[4] She pursued adegree inEnglish Literature fromSymbiosis International University,Pune.[citation needed]
In October 2020, Bajwa took to Instagram to announce she is in a relationship with director Suneel Reddy.[5]
She made her acting debut in the 2005 Telugu filmModati Cinema, following which she appeared in several Telugu films, includingBoss alongsideNagarjuna andBhaskar'sParugu, in which she had acameo appearance asPrakash Raj's elder daughter.[6] She debuted in Tamil in 2008 with theHari-directedmasala filmSeval and subsequently starred inThenavattu andKacheri Arambam, both co-starringJeeva, andDrohi andThambikottai.[7]She acted inChina Town, a Malayalam movie.[citation needed]
