Ponteranica (Italian:[ponteˈraːnika];Bergamasque:Potranga orPut de Ranga;lit. 'Bridge toRanica') is acomune (municipality) in theProvince of Bergamo in theItalian region ofLombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast ofMilan and about 4 kilometres (2 mi) northwest ofBergamo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,866 and an area of 8.4 square kilometres (3.2 sq mi).[3]
The source of the riverMorla is located in Ponteranica. A part of its surface is occupied byMaresana Hill and some of its territory belongs toParco dei Colli di Bergamo.
