Sahadat Ali ofTrinamool Congress in 2006,[12] Azizur Rahman of Trinamool Congress in 2001,[11] and Mainul Haque ofCongress in 1996.[10] Brojogopal Neogy of CPI(M) defeated Bhawani Prasad Sinha Roy of Congress in 1991,[9] Tapan Dasgupta of Congress in 1987,[8] Kamal Kumar Mukherjee of Congress in 1982[7] and Bhabani Prasad Sinha Roy of Congress in 1977.[6][13]
