Pločica (Serbian Cyrillic: Плочица) is avillage inSerbia. It is situated in theKovinmunicipality, in theSouth Banat District,Vojvodina province. The village has a Serb ethnic majority (94.32%) and a population of 2,044 (2002 census).
InSerbian the village is known asPločica (Плочица), inHungarian asKevepallós, inGerman asPloschitz orBlauschütz, and inRomanian asPlocița.
The area was originally settled by Serbs in the end of the 17th century and later by theGerman colonists in the end of the 18th century. In 1910, village had Serb majority and sizable Danube Swabian minority. Until the Second World War, 1,300Danube Swabians lived in Pločica.[1]
