Placia orPlakia orPlacie orPlakie (Ancient Greek:Πλακίη), also known asPlaca orPlaka orPlace orPlake (Πλάκη),[1] was a town ofancient Mysia, on the coast of thePropontis, at the foot of theMysian Olympus east ofCyzicus. It was aPelasgian town; in this place and the neighbouringScylace, the Pelasgians, according toHerodotus, had preserved their ancient language down to his time.[2] The town is mentioned in thePeriplus of Pseudo-Scylax, and byPomponius Mela,[3]Dionysius of Halicarnassus[4] andPliny the Elder.[5]
Its site is tentatively located nearKurşunlu, inBursa Province,Turkey.[6][7]
