Sindh is a province inPakistan.

The province includes a number of important historical sites. TheIndus Valley civilization (IVC) was aBronze Agecivilization (mature period 2600–1900 BC) which was centred mostly in the Sindh.[1]Sindh has numerous tourist sites with the most prominent being the ruins ofMohenjo-daro near the city ofLarkana.[1] Islamic architecture is quite prominent as well as colonial and post-partition sites. Natural sites, likeManchar Lake have increasingly been a source ofsustainable tourism in the province.[2]

Sindh has numerous tourist sites with the most prominent being the ruins ofMohenjo-daro near the city ofLarkana.[1] Islamic architecture is quite prominent in the province with theShahjahan Mosque inThatta built by theMughal emperorShahjahan and numerous mausoleums dot the province including the very oldShahbaz Qalander mausoleum dedicated to the Iranian-bornSufi and the beautiful mausoleum ofMuhammad Ali Jinnah known as theMazar-e-Quaid inKarachi.[3]

Mohatta Palace, a museum inKarachi built in 1927 byShivratan Chandraratan Mohatta aHinduMarwari businessman. At Partition ofSub-continent in 1947,Mohatta Palace was acquired by the newly establishedGovernment of Pakistan to house its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[4][5]Frere Hall is one of the finest architecture of theBritish Colonial Era which is one of the most significant tourists spot inKarachi. The hall was built bySir Henry Bartle Frere, started in 1863 and finished in 1865.[6][7]Faiz Mahal is also a palace situated inKhairpur,Sindh. It was built in 1798 byMir Sohrab Khan who belongs toTalpur family.[8][9][10]

Eco-tourism

Manchar Lake is the largest freshwater natural lake inPakistan, lies 18 kilometres (11 mi) west ofSehwan on theIndus Highway. It is claimed to be one of the biggest freshwater lakes inPakistan and the only lake that is home to fishermen living on wooden boathouses for hundreds of years. The lake spreads over an area of 233 kilometres (145 mi)2 and gets its water from theKirthar Hills torrents andIndus River.[11] The lake receives 385,000 visitors a year.[2]

Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) (Sindhi:سنڌ ٽوئرزم ڊولپمينٽ ڪارپوريشن) is anorganization of theGovernment of Sindh,Pakistan. STDC is governed by theBoard of directors and provides facilities to the national and international tourists. It runs severalmotels andresorts across theSindhprovince. STDC wasincorporated on 5 June 1992.[12]

Thecorporation was formed to develop and promote tourism in Sindh, using its geographical assets, itsancient history, itsSufiheritage, itsarchaeology, its creative andperforming arts, and itsliterature.
