Peteese and Pihor were two brothers fromlower Nubia who were believed to have drowned in theNile River and became minor gods during the26th dynasty.[1] During the reign ofAugustus, who in addition to beingEmperor of Rome was alsoPharaoh while in Egypt, a temple to the brothers andIsis was built inDendur. Today, theTemple of Dendur has been relocated to theMetropolitan Museum of Art due to fears of it flooding as a result of the construction of theAswan Dam.

The name of Peteese translates to "he whom Isis has given" and, Pihor translates to "he who belongs toHorus."[2][3]
