Pierre-Loup Rajot (born 9 February 1958) is aFrench stage, television and film actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He is a 1985César Award recipient forMost Promising Actor for his performance in the 1984 comedy filmSouvenirs, Souvenirs.
Born inAmbert, Pierre-Loup Rajot later studiedenvironmental science and technology at university.[1] Following his graduation from university, he was a pupil ofFrancis Huster at theCours Florent and attendedPatrice Chéreau's theater courses at theThéâtre Nanterre-Amandiers inNanterre where Chéreau directed him in roles of four Shakespeare's plays (Love's Labours Lost;As You Like It;Much Ado About Nothing;Twelfth Night). He made his screen debut in the 1982Maurice Pialat directed filmÀ Nos Amours.[2]
In 1985 Rajot won theCésar Award forMost Promising Actor at the10th César Awards for his performance in the 1984 comedy filmSouvenirs, Souvenirs, directed byAriel Zeitoun.[3] He has appeared in films oppositeYves Montand inGarçon! (1983),Jeanne Moreau inLa nuit de l'océan (1987),Michel Aumont inLe petit Marguery (1995) andAudrey Tautou inVoyous voyelles (2000).[4]
Rajot has also appeared in a number of French television films and serials. He is possibly best known for his leading role as Hugo Chalonges on theTF1 crime-drama seriesR.I.S, police scientifique from 2005 to 2010. He also appeared as the character Fiaux in the television mini-seriesThe Blue Bicycle alongsideLaetitia Casta (2000) and again with Casta, playing her father in the 2008 comedy-drama filmNés en 68.[5][6]
In addition to acting, Rajot has worked as a director, producer and screenwriter.[7]
Pierre-Loup Rajot is married to actress Céline Rajot (née Guignard) and is the father of three children: Mathis, Alma and Orfeo.[8]
