Argimiro Pérez García (born 14 March 1959), commonly known asPichi Lucas, is a Spanish formerfootballer who played as astriker.
He spent most of his career withCelta, for which he appeared in 288 official games and scored 92 goals. HisLa Liga input consisted of 113 matches and 18 goals over six seasons, also representing in the competitionCompostela.[1]
Lucas subsequently worked as amanager.
Born inCamponaraya,Castile and León, Lucas' professional career was solely associated to twoGalician clubs,RC Celta de Vigo andSD Compostela. After a loan to lowlyCórdoba CF, he returned to the former for the1981–82 season, scoring a career-best 26 goals in 37 gamesen route to aLa Liga promotion.[2][3][4]
Lucas made his debut in theSpanish top flight on 5 September 1982, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1–0 away loss againstSevilla FC.[5] He scored his first goal in the competition twenty days later in the 2–2 home draw withRCD Español,[6] but only added another until the end ofthe campaign and his team was eventually relegated; during his tenure with Celta, he experienced a further twopromotions and relegations.[4]
In the summer of 1991, afterone year in theSegunda División B with neighbouringCD Ourense, Lucas signed for Compostela fromSegunda División. He contributed nine goals in 28 matches in histhird season, as the club reached the top tier for the first time in its history.[7]
Lucas retired at the end of the1994–95 campaign at the age of 36, after helpingCompos to retain their newfound status by scoring four times in only 14 appearances.
From1998 to2000, Lucas acted asinterim manager at Compostela, being in charge for a total of eight second-division games and winning only two. He subsequently worked mainly in lower league football, helpingSD Ponferradina reach division two in2006, a first-ever for the club.[8]
Lucas was fired on 30 April 2007 after a 3–3 home draw againstUD Vecindario (seven rounds remaining),[9] as the side went on tosuffer relegation. In the following years he worked in the third tier, withFC Cartagena,[10]Real Oviedo,[11]Celta de Vigo B[12] andFC Jumilla.[13]
