ThePiaggio P.XIX was an Italian aircraft engine produced byRinaldo Piaggio S.p.A. duringWorld War II and used to power aircraft of theRegia Aeronautica.
The engine was part of a line of 14-cylinder radial engines developed from Piaggio based on theGnome-Rhône Mistral Major, which was itself loosely based on theBristol Jupiter.[1] It was derived from the earlierP.XI but with a higher compression ratio.
The engine was also fitted experimentally to single versions of theIMAM Ro.57 andSavoia-Marchetti SM.82 (serial number MM.60591).[2]
