Philesiaceae is afamily offlowering plants, including two genera, each with a single species.[2] The members of the family are woody shrubs or vinesendemic to southernChile.[3][4]
TheAPG III system, of 2009 (unchanged from theAPG II system of 2003 and theAPG system, of 1998) places the family in the orderLiliales, in the clademonocots. They are a sister to the familyRipogonaceae which is endemic to Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea.[5]
