Phacellodomus is thegenus ofthornbirds, birds in thefamilyFurnariidae. They are found in woodlands, shrublands, and grasslands, often near water, inSouth America.
The genusPhacellodomus was described in 1853 by the German naturalistLudwig Reichenbach to accommodate therufous-fronted thornbird.[1][2] The genus name combines theAncient Greekphakellos meaning "bundle of twigs" anddomos meaning "house".[3]
