Hizb-i Paykār (Persian:حزب پیکار,lit. 'Battle Party') was a small nationalist organization inIran during 1940s. The party denounced the reign ofReza Shah and it condemned thepresence of the Allies on Iranian soil.[3]
According toL. P. Elwell-Sutton, the party was composed of intellectuals, and at some time was sympathized by figures such asHossein Ala andIsa Sedigh.[5]
One of its organs "showed inclinations in favor ofNazi Germany",[3] while the party "tended towards France, andagainst the soviet Union".[4] In 1943 a weekly newspaper entitledMard-i Imruz which had been launched byMohammad Masud in 1942 became the official media outlet of the party.[6]
