ThePetermann Ranges (German:Petermannketten) are a number of associatedmountain ranges including theÖstliche Petermann,Mittlere Petermann,Westliche Petermann,Südliche Petermann, andPieck Ranges, located just east of theHumboldt Mountains in the centralWohlthat Mountains ofQueen Maud Land.
These mountain ranges were discovered and plotted from air photos by theThird German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939), led by Capt.Alfred Ritscher, who named it forAugust Petermann.[1]
