Perry Gilmore Currin (September 27, 1928 – January 17, 2011) was an American professionalbaseball player. He appeared in three games inMajor League Baseball for theSt. Louis Browns of theAmerican League during the 1947 season. Listed at 6' 0", 175 lb., Currin battedleft-handed and threwright-handed. He was born in Washington, D.C.[1]
Currin appeared in three games with the Browns, two as apinch hitter and one as a late inning replacement forshortstopVern Stephens at the end of a blowout loss to theNew York Yankees. Currin went hitless in twoat bats while receiving onewalk. At 18, he was the third-youngest player in the American League in 1947.
He later played in theminor leagues from 1947 through 1951, compiling a .251 average (498-for-1982) and 21home runs in 552 games.[2]
Following his baseball career, Currin settled inSan Antonio, Texas, where he died at the age of 82.[3]
