The Pemba Channel is well known to be teeming with fish;marlins,tiger sharks,hammerhead sharks,yellowfin tunas,wahoos,giant trevallies andbarracudas are some of thespecies found in the area, together withsea turtles,dolphins,dugongs and occasionalwhales.[1]
ThePemba Channel Fishing Club, located on theKenyan coast atShimoni, is one of the oldest and most famous Africanfishing clubs;Ernest Hemingway, among others, practiced high sea fishing there.[2]
