ThePeloponnese Region (Greek:Περιφέρεια Πελοποννήσου,romanized: Periféria Peloponnísou,[periˈferiapelopoˈnisu]) is aregion insouthern Greece. It bordersWestern Greece to the north andAttica to the north-east. The region has an area of about 15,490 square kilometres (5,980 square miles). It covers most of thePeloponnese peninsula, except for the northwestern subregions ofAchaea andElis which belong to Western Greece and a small portion of theArgolid peninsula that is part ofAttica.
TheGross domestic product (GDP) of the region was 8.2 billion € in 2018, accounting for 4.5% of Greek economic output. GDP per capita adjusted for purchasing power was 17,400 € or 57% of the EU27 average in the same year. The GDP per employee was 68% of the EU average.[4]
