Peer (Dutch pronunciation:[peːr]ⓘ) is amunicipality andcity[2] located in the province ofLimburg,Flemish Region,Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Peer had a total population of 15,810. The total area is 86.95 km2 which gives apopulation density of 182 inhabitants per km2.
The municipality consists of the followingsub-municipalities: Peer, Grote-Brogel, Kleine-Brogel, Wauberg, Erpekom andWijchmaal.
Peer is the site ofBlues Peer [nl], an annualblues music festival held in July.
Peer is the birth place of the composerArmand Preud'homme. From 1990 to 2018 theArmand Preud'homme Museum remembered to his life and work.[3]
The villageGrote-Brogel, part of Peer, claims to be the birthplace ofPieter Bruegel.[4] TheBruegel Foundation was also founded in Peer to research the history of Peer andPieter Bruegel.
Kleine-Brogel, a village that is a part of Peer, includesKleine Brogel Air Base. Rumours thatAmerican nuclear weapons under theNATOnuclear sharing program were stationed at Kleine Brogel were eventually confirmed byMinister of DefencePieter De Crem in 2008.[5]

Peer has in the summer quite a nice temperature, around 20 degrees Celsius. In the winter it normally snows.
