Paulo Rodrigues Barcelos (born 10 May 1960) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as amidfielder.

Career

Born in Uberaba, Paulo Rodrigues began his career in the youth sectors at Nacional. He had spells at América-MG and Botafogo-SP, but it was in 1988 that he gained national relevance, being a highlight of Brazilian champion Bahia alongsideBobô, and winning the Silver Ball that season.[1][2][3][4]

In September 1993, Paulo joined JapaneseJ1 League clubVerdy Kawasaki. However, he could not play at all in the match in1993 season. Verdy won the J League in 1993. In March 1994, he debuted asdefender againstBellmare Hiratsuka in opening match in 1994 season.[5][6] Although he played 3 matches in March,[7][8][9] he could not play at all in the match from April. He left the club in July 1994.

In April 2020, the player auctioned off the trophy he received at the Silver Ball in favor of the victims ofCOVID-19.[10]
