Paul Davies, born October 1957, is a BritishLabour Party politician who has been theMember of Parliament forColne Valley since 2024.[3]

Early life and career

Davies grew up inCaerau. He worked as an electrician, before he studied Politics and Economic History atCardiff University. After graduation, he worked in roles in human resources and operations management.[4]

Davies was elected as a councillor in 2019 for Holme Valley South ward onKirklees Council.[5] He was the deputy leader of the council before he stepped down in 2024 when selected as the Labour parliamentary candidate for Colne Valley.[6]

Parliamentary career

Davies was selected as the candidate for Labour Party inColne Valley in December 2022.[7] He won the seat with 41% of the vote and unseated the Conservative'sJason McCartney with a majority of 4,963. There were a total of six candidates, and a turnout of 64%.[8]

In November 2024, Davies voted in favour of theTerminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legaliseassisted suicide.[9]
