Patti Murin (born September 28,[1] 1980)[2][3] is an American actress, singer and dancer. OnBroadway, she has originated the title role inLysistrata Jones (2011) andPrincess Anna inFrozen (2018). She also had a recurring role as Dr. Nina Shore in theNBC medical dramaChicago Med from 2016 to 2019.

Early life

Patti Murin was born and raised inHopewell Junction, New York,[4] attendedJohn Jay High School (Hopewell Junction, New York) and graduated fromSyracuse University in 2002, where she majored in musical theatre and was a member of theSyracuse Orange cheerleading squad.[5][6]

Career

Murin began her career inregional theatre, playing Polly Baker inCrazy for You in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.[7][8] HerOff-Broadway debut was in 2005 in the staged concert of theElizabeth Diggs-Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt stage musicalMirette withYork Theatre Company.[9] She next playedBelle in a national tour ofBeauty and the Beast (2006)[10][11]

Murin made herBroadway debut in the musicalXanadu in 2007–2008 as a swing, understudy and then replacement in the leading role ofClio/Kira.[4][6] In her next Broadway appearance, she originated the title role inLysistrata Jones in 2012.[12] Among other roles in regional and other stage productions, she playedGlinda Upland in the first national tour ofWicked (2012–2013).[13] She played pathologist Nina Shore on theNBCmedical drama television seriesChicago Med, which she joined in 2016[14] and recurred until 2019.[15]

Murin was the originalPrincess Anna in the musicalFrozen which opened on Broadway at theSt. James Theatre in March 2018.[16] She also performed as Anna during the workshops and 2017 out of town tryout at theBuell Theatre inDenver, Colorado.[17][18] Murin played her final performance in the role on February 16, 2020.[19]

She appears in theHallmark Channel filmLove on Iceland with her husbandColin Donnell, which aired in January 2020.[20]

Murin released a joint album withColin Donnell titledSomething Stupid in 2022. The album, released onBroadway Records, was produced by Robbie Rozelle, co-produced byYasuhiko Fukuoka, and arranged and orchestrated by Luke Williams.

In 2025, Murin reprised the role of Princess Anna inFrozen atthe Muny in St. Louis, Missouri.[21]

Personal life

Murin's first husband was Curtis Holbrook, her co-star in the Broadway production ofXanadu from 2009 until their divorce in 2013.[22] On June 19, 2015, Murin married herLove's Labour's Lost co-starColin Donnell in New York City.[23] Their daughter, Cecily, was born on July 14, 2020.[24] In October 2022, the couple announced that Murin was pregnant with their second child.[25]Their second daughter, Lorelai, was born on April 2, 2023.
