Patterson Creek is a 51.2-mile-long (82.4 km)[1]tributary of theNorth Branch Potomac River inWest Virginia'sEastern Panhandle, in theUnited States.[2] It enters the North Branch east ofCumberland, Maryland, with its headwaters located inGrant County, West Virginia. Patterson Creek is the watershed for two-thirds ofMineral County, West Virginia. The creek passes throughLahmansville,Forman,Medley,Williamsport,Burlington,Headsville,Reeses Mill,Champwood, andFort Ashby.
The creek most likely was named after the local Patterson family.[3] The place at which Patterson Creek joins theNorth Branch Potomac River was once known as Patterson Depot.[4]
