ThePatriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration (PMSR)[1] has been the rulingmilitary junta ofBurkina Faso since theJanuary 2022 Burkina Faso coup d'état.[2] Originally it was led byPaul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, but he was overthrown by dissatisfied junta members during theSeptember 2022 Burkina Faso coup d'état. In his place,Capt.Ibrahim Traoré was installed as the leading figure.[3][4] Aside from Traoré and Sorgho (the group's official spokesperson), other MPSR members are not known to the public.[5]
