Patrick John Keeling is abiologist and professor in the Department ofBotany at theUniversity of British Columbia.[6][3][7] His research investigates thephylogeny,genomics andmolecular evolution of protists and his work has led to numerous advances in assembling theeukaryotictree of life. He has also identified several cases ofhorizontal gene transfer.[5][8][9]
