Parmenas (Greek:Παρμενᾶς) was one of theSeven Deacons appointed to serve theearly Christian church as recorded in theActs of the Apostles, where his name appears sixth in the list of the seven.[1] He is believed to have preached thegospel inAsia Minor. Parmenas suffered martyrdom in 98, under the persecution ofTrajan.
Christian tradition identifies him as the Bishop of Soli. Some historians take this to beSoli, Cyprus,[2] while others interpret it asSoli, Cilicia.[3] He is one of the four deacons jointly celebrated on 23 January.[4]
