Parma[ˈparma] is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Łowicz, withinŁowicz County,Łódź Voivodeship, in centralPoland.[2] It lies approximately 7 km (4 mi) south-east ofŁowicz and 48 km (30 mi) north-east of the regional capitalŁódź.
The village is named after theItalian city ofParma.[1] It was owned by Polish noblewomanHelena Radziwiłłowa, who probably founded the village.[1]
According to the1921 census, the village had a population of 373, entirelyPolish by nationality andRoman Catholic by confession.[3]
During theinvasion of Poland, which startedWorld War II, on 12 September 1939, Germans murdered 32 Polish farmers in Parma, including 11 inhabitants of the village (see alsoNazi crimes against the Polish nation).[4] There is a memorial dedicated to the victims in the village.[1]
