TheParliament of Upper Canada was the legislature forUpper Canada. It was created when the oldProvince of Quebec was split into Upper Canada andLower Canada by theConstitutional Act of 1791.
As in otherWestminster-style legislatures, it consisted of three components:
Following theRebellions of 1837 andLord Durham's 1839 Report to the British Government, Upper Canada and Lower Canada were rejoined in 1841 to create theProvince of Canada. The Parliament of Upper Canada was therewith replaced by the newly createdParliament of the United Province of Canada.
