TheParade Gardens is a grade IIlisted park inBath,Somerset, England.[1] The gardens are situated to the south of theEmpire Hotel, Bath and 250 yards to the east ofBath Abbey.[1]
There is a small fee to enter Parade Gardens,[2] while residents with a Discovery Card have free access.[3] There is also a cafe on site.
Originally known as St James's Park, it was laid out in 1709 to accompanyAssembly Rooms forSpa visitors, which were built by Thomas Harrison and conceived byBeau Nash.[1] With the construction of theBath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution in 1824 on the site of the former assembly rooms, the gardens became known as the Institution Gardens.[1]
