As per orders of theDelimitation Commission, No. 79 Palashipara Assembly constituency is composed of the following:Chanderghat and Patharghata II gram panchayats ofTehatta I CD Block,Tehatta II CD Block, and Bikrampur, Bilkumari, Dhananjaypur and Haranagar gram panchayats ofNakashipara CD Block.[1]

Palashipara Assembly constituency is part of12. Krishnanagar Lok Sabha Constituency.[1]

1977–2006

In the2006 state assembly elections,[6] Biswanath Ghosh ofCPI(M) won the Palashipara assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Tapas Kumar Saha ofTMC. Contests in most years were multicornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Kamalendu Sanyal (Former Minister of State) ofCPI(M) defeated Tapas Kumar Saha ofTMC in 2001,[7] Ujjal Biswas ofCongress in 1996[8] and Kartic Chandra Biswas ofCongress in 1991.[9] Madhabendu Mahanta ofCPI(M) defeated Kumaresh Chandra ofCongress in 1987,[10] and Kartic Chandra Biswas ofCongress in 1982[11] and 1977.[12][13] Prior to that the constituency did not exist.Tehatta Assembly constituency existed in the area.
