Palana (Russian:Пала́на;Koryak:Ӄычг'эт,romanized: Qəcget,Пыльг'ыльг'ын,Pəļgəļgən) is anurban locality (anurban-type settlement) inTigilsky District ofKoryak Okrug ofKamchatka Krai,Russia which serves as theadministrative center of Koryak Okrug. The settlement is located on the west coast of theKamchatka Peninsula on the right bank of thePalana River within 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) from theSea of Okhotsk. Population:3,155 (2010 Census);[2]3,928 (2002 Census);[6]4,343 (1989 Soviet census).[7]
Palana is theadministrative center ofKoryak Okrug in Kamchatka Krai and, within theframework of administrative divisions, it is subordinated toTigilsky District of Koryak Okrug.[1] As amunicipal division, the urban-type settlement of Palana is incorporated asPalana Urban Okrug.[8]
It is served by thePalana Airport.
There are several dance ensembles, both professional and amateur, in Palana.

Palana has asubarctic climate (KöppenDfc), intermediate between those of theSakha Republic and the eastern coast of theKamchatka Peninsula. TheSea of Okhotsk freezes during the winter and thus there is less moderation of temperatures during this season than is found on the Pacific side of the peninsula, and theAleutian Low tends to produce moreprecipitation.
