Pacific Bell Wireless, LLC is a wireless operating division ofAT&T Mobility.[1] Pacific Bell Wireless is legally known asPacific Bell Wireless, LLC d/b/a Cingular Wireless.[citation needed]
It was founded in the mid-1990s, initially named Pacific Bell Mobile Services, as a means forPacific Telesis to capitalize on the wireless market it had lost when it spun offAirTouch.
Pacific Bell Wireless should not be confused withPacTel Mobile Access, which was spun off asAirTouch in 1994, and was later acquired byVodafone. It was placed in its joint venture withVerizon,Verizon Wireless.
