P. Mettupalayam is apanchayat town inGobichettipalayam taluk ofErode district in the Indian state ofTamil Nadu. It is located in the north-western part of the state. Spread across an area of 11.47 km2 (4.43 sq mi), it had a population of 9,109 individuals as per the2011 census.

The town panchayat is headed by a chairperson, who is elected by the members, who are chosen through direct elections.[5] In 2025, theGovernment of Tamil Nadu announced plans to merge the town panchayat with the nearbyKavindapadi to form a separate municipality.[6] The town forms part of theGobichettipalayam Assembly constituency that elects its member to theTamil Nadu legislative assembly and theTiruppur Lok Sabha constituency that elects its member to theParliament of India.[7]
As per the2011 census, P. Mettupalayam had a population of 9,109 individuals across 2,823 households.[8] The population saw a marginal decrease compared to the previous census in2001 when 9,115 inhabitants were registered. The population consisted of 4,504 malesand 4,605 females.[3][9] About 647 individuals were below the age of six years.[8] The entire population is classified as urban. The town has an average literacy rate of 69.5%. About 10% of the population belonged toscheduled castes.[3][8]
About 62.2% of the eligible population were employed, of which majority were involved inagriculture and allied activities.[3][8]Hinduism was the majority religion which was followed by 99.4% of the population, withIslam (0.2%) andChristianity (0.3%) being minor religions.[10]
