TheOxford University Gazette (often simply known as theGazette locally) is thepublication of record for theUniversity of Oxford inEngland, used for official announcements. It is published weekly during term time.[1]
TheGazette has been published continuously since 1870.[2] It provides information such as the following:[1]
- University legislation
- Official announcements
- Announcements of events, such as lectures, exhibitions
- Appointments to University posts, such as professorships, etc.
- Vacancies for academic (and some non-academic) posts
- Notices concerning grants available
- Classified advertisements
TheGazette is published weekly throughout the University'sacademic year (from September to July), but less regularly during the University'svacation periods. A number of supplements are also published giving various types of official information. Subscribers to theGazette[3] also receive Blueprint,[4] the University's staff newsletter, andThe Oxford Magazine.
Most of the material in theGazette is available on theWorld Wide Web. However, due to the UKData Protection Act some of the printed version of theGazette has not been included online since September 2001.[1] TheGazette is published by theOxford University Press.[5]
