The film tells the story of aFrench photographer (played byHippolyte Girardot), who is kidnapped inBeirut,Lebanon, and attempts to maintain his personal dignity in the face oftorture andbrainwashing. The story was inspired by the events surrounding the kidnapping ofRoger Auque during theLebanon hostage crisis. The film was produced by the French companies Galatée Films and Films A2.
The film won theJury Prize at the1991 Cannes Film Festival.[1]
