
Orthopyroxenite is anultramafic and ultrabasic rock that is almost exclusively made from the mineralorthopyroxene, theorthorhombic version ofpyroxene and a type ofpyroxenite. It can have up to a few percent ofolivine andclinopyroxene.

Orthopyroxenites can also occur on other planets.ALH 84001 is aMartian meteorite that can be classified as an orthopyroxenite. It is the onlymeteorite found with that composition and the only member of theMartian orthopyroxenite group of meteorites.[1]
