Kočani (Macedonian:Кочани[ˈkɔtʃani]ⓘ) is a municipality in the eastern part ofNorth Macedonia.Kočani is also the name of the town where the municipal seat is located. The municipality is part of theEastern Statistical Region.
The municipality borders theKriva Palanka Municipality to the north,Kratovo Municipality andProbištip Municipality to the west,Makedonska Kamenica Municipality andVinica Municipality to the east, and theČešinovo-Obleševo Municipality andZrnovci Municipality to the south.
By the 2003 territorial division of the Republic, the rural Orizari Municipality was annexed to the Kočani Municipality.
