TheProvince of the Orange Free State (Afrikaans:Provinsie Oranje-Vrystaat), commonly referred to as theOrange Free State (Afrikaans:Oranje-Vrystaat),Free State (Afrikaans:Vrystaat) or by its abbreviationOFS, was one of the fourprovinces of South Africa from 1910 to 1994. After 27 April 1994 it was dissolved following thefirst non-racial election in South Africa. It is now called theFree State Province.

Its predecessor was theOrange River Colony which in 1902 had replaced theOrange Free State, a Boer republic.

Itsoutside borders were the same as those of the modernFree State Province; except for thebantustans ("homelands") ofQwaQwa and one part ofBophuthatswana, which were contained on landinside of the provincial Orange Free State borders.
