Anoperator is aprofessional designation used in variousindustries, includingbroadcasting (intelevision andradio),computing, power generation and transmission,customer service,physics, andconstruction. Operators are day-to-dayend users of systems, that may or may not bemission-critical, but are typically managed and maintained bytechnicians orengineers. They might also work on a 24-hour rotatingshift schedule.[citation needed]
