Oliver Schmitz (born 1960) is a South Africanfilm director andscreenwriter.
His filmMapantsula was screened in theUn Certain Regard section at the1988 Cannes Film Festival.[1] His 2010 filmLife, Above All was also screened in theUn Certain Regard section at the2010 Cannes Film Festival and it was selected as the South African entry for theBest Foreign Language Film at the83rd Academy Awards.[2] It made the shortlist of nominations announced in January 2011.[3]
