Ofeq-10, also known asOfek-10 (Horizon in Hebrew), is part of theOfeq family ofreconnaissance satellites designed and built byIsrael Aerospace Industries (IAI) for theIsraeli Ministry of Defense.

Satellite description

Ofek-10 is an upgraded variant ofOfeq-8, which employs a high-resolutionsynthetic-aperture radar (SAR) that is capable of observation at night and through clouds.[1][2] The satellite's price was US$300 million. The satellite weighs 400 kg.[3]

Launch

Ofeq-10 was launched on 9 April 2014, at 19:06:02UTC from thePalmachim Airbase inIsrael, four years afterOfeq-9's launch. It was delivered using aShavit launcher.[4] Ofeq-10 was launched westward in aretrograde orbit.[5]
