Odobenus (walrus) | |
Odobenidae is a family ofpinnipeds, of which the only extant species is thewalrus (Odobenus rosmarus). In the past, however, the group was much more diverse, and includes more than a dozen fossil genera.
All genera, exceptOdobenus, are extinct.[1]

(2013) proposed the phylogenetic relationships of Odobenidae as follows (this analysis excludedArchaeodobenus, Titanotaria, Nanodobenus, andPliopedia; and includedEnaliarctos, Pteronarctos, Allodesmus, Desmatophoca, Callorhinus, Monachus, andErignathus):[3]
