Oakenshaw is a village located in both theCity of Bradford andKirklees inWest Yorkshire, England. It is located midway between the town ofCleckheaton in Kirklees and the suburb ofWyke inBradford.[1] The village is close to theM606 motorway. The village's main shopping centre is on Bradford Road and its main church, dedicated toSt Andrew, is a grade IIlisted building.[2][3]

Transport

The village is served byLow Moor railway station on theCalder Valley line with services toLeeds,Bradford Interchange andManchester Victoria. Another line serving the village was theSpen Valley Line which ran fromLow Moor toMirfield via Cleckheaton andHeckmondwike. Another branch of the line connected toDewsbury but this line closed in 1965 to all traffic. It is now theSpen Valley Greenway.

Cricket

Woodlands Cricket Club, established in 1894, is an amateurcricket club based on Albert Terrace.[4] They have two Senior XI teams in theBradford Premier League[5] and an established junior section that play competitave cricket in the Bradford Junior Cricket League.[6]
